Mr. Kannan is a Managing Director in the Ares Credit Group, where he focuses on the group's Commercial Finance platform. Prior to joining Ares in 2016, Mr. Kannan was a Director at Cowen Group, where he covered and provided investment banking services to financial sponsors. Previously, he worked at Goldman Sachs in the Leveraged Finance Group, where he was one of the original members of the Middle Market Financing Group, raising capital through syndicated loans and high yield bonds for middle market financial sponsor-owned companies. In addition, Mr. Kannan was a Director at Loughlin Meghji + Co., where he focused on corporate restructuring advisory services, a Principal at Global Infrastructure Partners, where he focused on investments in the waste management sector, and was a Director at Credit Suisse, where he covered financial sponsors, raising debt and equity capital and providing mergers and acquisitions advisory services to private equity-backed companies. Mr. Kannan began his career as an Associate in the Energy Group at Jefferies. Mr. Kannan holds an M.S. from Clemson University in Mechanical Engineering and an M.B.A from the University of Pennsylvania's Wharton School of Business in Finance.
